Kieran Furey: Poet, Publisher, Translator

Roscommon poet Kieran Furey

Roscommon poet Kieran Furey

EARLIER this week, I travelled to Longford and Roscommon to meet poet, publisher and translator Kieran Furey. Author of over 20 books of short stories, satire, poetry and travel material, Furey has self- published and read from his work in Ireland, Britain, the States, Latin America and Scandinavia.

I caught up Kieran Furey in Longford, where he was reading as part of an exhibition of his work by artist Lucy Brennan- Sheil, entitled ‘Landscapes From The History House’.

Though I didn’t interview Furey, I filmed the poet reading from ‘Linnane in London’ in Longford, as well as reading from ‘The History House’ at Strokestown House, from where many of the poems in Furey’s collections take their inspiration.
