About Philip

Philip Cummins is a senior product leader with over 15 years of commercial experience across B2B and B2C markets. Based in Dublin, he has led product and growth functions at scale — from early-stage digital products to global mobile platforms serving millions of users across the Anglosphere and beyond.

Agile Project Management

Philip first honed his skills in agile project management and Scrum during his part-time studies towards a B.Sc in Digital Media, Technology, Design and Innovation (elective: Marketing and Project Management). During college projects, Philip worked as a product owner and a scrum master on a minor project and a major project, both of which Philip’s educators commended and both of which received first-class grades.

Some of the skills Philip attained during his studies include but are not limited to the following:

  • Scrum and agile project management.
  • Utilising web-based, Scrum and agile project management boards, team collaboration software and workflow applications such as Asana, Trello, Jira, Slack and Evernote.
  • User Experience Research and Design (UXRD).
  • Utilising web-based brainstorming boards, such as Padlet and Stormboard.

Since then, Philip has used Scrum and agile project management in almost every role that he’s inhabited: as a marketing analyst; a content strategist; as a journalist; as a part-time musician and part-time music producer. Philip believes that scrum and agile project management can maximise the output of any process in any environment.

Philip’s skills in Marketing and Project Management were first honed and refined during his time in Entertainment.ie, a thriving website that attracts 2 million unique, monthly users, and has logged over 20 million page impressions.

In what was a unique position, Philip actively worked across two separate departments: the tickets office that was part of Entertainment.ie’s marketing department and the editorial operation of Entertainment.ie. In a unique role that he made his own, Philip bridged those two departments together for the benefit of both the commercial and editorial interests of the company.

In his work with editorial, Philip wrote and conducted advertorial features and interviews with artists for whom Entertainment.ie was ticketing, as well as writing copy for listings and social media posts to promote and publicise events.

In his work with Entertainment.ie’s tickets solution, Philip maintained, updated and utilised Ticketsolve, a marketing and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, which Entertainment.ie’s tickets solution used to process online ticket sales via online channels and telephone. Philip also handled gift vouchers and physical sales on the door at events for which Entertainment.ie ticketed. As part of Entertainment.ie’s inbound marketing strategy, Philip coded, designed and scheduled the sending of online newsletters to a list of over 30,000 subscribers using MailChimp and Mandrill, as well as also developing social media marketing campaigns across various social media platforms using Hootsuite and Tweetdeck.

For lead generation, Philip designed, developed, tested and produced landing pages, website popups, forms, contests & promotions, and email marketing campaigns, using Wishpond.

As well as working on digital marketing campaigns and strategies, Philip has also designed and developed WordPress.com and WordPress.org websites, along with any accompanying integration of social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Flickr, Tumblr, YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud.

Philip has also integrated WordPress.com widgets and WordPress.org plugins for e-marketing applications such as Google Analytics, Eventbrite, PayPal, Stripe, MailChimp and Mandrill for clients wishing to showcase a portfolio of their work and market that content towards potential users and customers. Such clients have consisted mainly of writers, journalists, musicians, music producers/engineers, videographers, photographers, as well as print / online publishers, designers and marketers.
